July 2 – 6 POKÉMON SCIENCE Group Name: Masters Ready to become a Pokémon science master?! This week is all about connecting Pokémon concepts to science! Become a junior geologist in our rock-type Pokémon lab, build ecosystems and food chains in a real-world Pokémon game, and harness the power of the sun - just like Venusaur’s solar beam! July 9 – 13 ALL ABOUT ANIMALS Group Name: Gopher Tortoises This week is about animals. Did you know that animals are quite the engineers? Learn how they build shelters and practice building your own. Discover which everyday products were first engineered by animals and learn how to make man- made versions of them, and then meet some of the museum’s ambassador animals! July 16 – 20 FULL STEAM AHEAD Group Name: Artsy Engineers. (Field Trip Included) Bring out your creative side, it’s STEAM week! We will be pushing the limits of creativity and encouraging dirty, messy, colorful science! Play with colorful polymers in our slime lab, learn the physics behind pendulums while creating giant works of art, and use your math skills to make transforming shapes! On Friday, we‘ll visit the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society’s art and photography exhibit! July 23 – 27 UNDER THE SEA Group Name: Narwhals Did you know that fish have a special organ that helps them float? Did you know that coral is an animal? This week, explore some of the weird phenomena that happens under the sea! Learn how some marine animals have strangely adapted to life in the water, how coral classifies as an animal, and how humans have learned to map the ocean floor! July 30 – August 3 ANATOMY ACADEMY Group Name: Mighty Mitochondria Discover how our organs work to keep us healthy! This week, we’ll re-create a cell and learn all about its parts, build a model heart to visually understand how it pumps blood throughout our body, and play a bone relay game to learn about the skeletal system! August 6 – 10 ENGINEERING CHALLENGE Group Name: Jr. Builders (Field Trip Included) Civil engineers have been around for centuries and without them we wouldn’t have bridges, buildings, or roads! This week, we’ll take a trip through history to discover how civil engineers have advanced the way we live. Then, we’ll use our knowledge to create a city of the future! On Friday, we will visit the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society to discover how civil engineering developed in our city!
