We will create an appreciation of our natural world through a variety of games and activities geared towards conservation. Learn about the flora and fauna in the Everglades, tinker with the gear used to study our environment, and help build a compost bin! July 2 – 6 POKÉMON SCIENCE Group Name: Trainers Are you ready to begin Pokémon science training? This week is all about connecting Pokémon concepts with science concepts! Learn about the properties of water in our water-type Pokémon lab, discover how Pikachu uses electricity in our circuits lab, and design new Pokémon based on real-life examples! July 9 – 13 ALL ABOUT ANIMALS Group Name: Leopard Geckos From bird feathers to elephant trunks, all animals are unique! This week we will discover how these special features help animals survive. Learn how arctic mammals stay warm in the snow, why bird beaks come in so many different shapes and sizes, and then meet some of the museum’s ambassador animals and learn what makes them unique! July 16 – 20 FULL STEAM AHEAD Group Name: Super Scientists It’s time to bring out your creative side, it’s STEAM week! We will be pushing the limits of creativity and encouraging dirty, messy, colorful science! Learn about chemistry while making fizzy works of art in our chem-ART-istry studio, bring botany into your colorful creations to learn about plant anatomy, and learn the physics behind making your own glow-in- the-dark sidewalk chalk! July 23 – 27 UNDER THE SEA Group Name: Loggerheads It’s time to make some waves! This week is all about the ocean and the critters that call it home. Discover how waves travel, explore the deepest parts of the sea in a bioluminescence lab, and learn how humans help protect our oceans! July 30 – August 3 ANATOMY ACADEMY Group Name: Organelles This week, learn about some anatomy essentials that keep us alive and well! Learn how important our bones are, discover what’s in our blood, and create your own models of some of the most essential organs in our bodies! August 6 – 10 ENGINEERING CHALLENGE Group Name: Jr. Builders Civil engineering is one of the oldest types of engineering around. Civil engineers design buildings, bridges, and roads all over the world! This week, join us as we learn what it takes to build skyscrapers, bridges, and highways. Then, put your new engineering skills to the test and work together to build a new city built by Camp Discovery!
