Special Events • The Museum had an operating budget of $8.4 million in revenues which is 4% more than prior year. • Endowment funds of $3,181,992 is 1.5% more than the year prior. • 3% of revenue was from government support. • 23% of revenue was generated by philanthropy and events. • 74% of revenues were generated through earned income from admissions, program fees, membership, facility rental, store, concession, and interest from endowment. • School field trip revenue increased 21% from the prior year. • The Museum’s attendance increased 4% from prior year, to 456,251. IMAX was closed during September 2016 to install the new IMAX with Laser projection system. • The Museum had a pre-depreciation net income of $789,114 from operations. • The Museum received nearly $800,000 of in-kind support. • Facility rentals increased by 124% from 2015. • 85% of all operating costs were spent on programs, films and exhibits; 11% for administration and finance; and 4% for fundraising including costs for special events. Mercedes-Benz Fort Lauderdale Marvels of MODS Gala on November 14, 2015 hosted 700 guests and raised $450,000 for the Museum. Bank of America Wine, Spirits and Culinary Celebration on April 8, 2016 hosted 1,400 guests and raised $175,000 for the Museum.
