Museum of Discovery and Science 15 MODS extends its appreciation for the following government partners’ for the unwavering support which allows MODS to continue to offer valuable cultural programming in our community, contributing to the cultural excellence of the greater south Florida community. Thanks to the generosity of Ultimate Software, 60 young girls between the ages of 6 and 14 were treated to a special experience at the Museum: You Go Girl! STEM & Creativity Overnight. You Go Girl! encouraged girls to engage in STEM through creative outlets and activities including: creating catapults, bridges, earthquake resistant structures and live Museum animals’ encounters. Ultimate Software staff volunteered during the overnight which allowed the girls the opportunity to ask questions, and learn about Ultimate Software and Museum female staff’s line of work. Supported programming, like You Go Girl!, breaks stigmas associated with science education and increases interests in learning and potentially STEM careers. The girls learned the importance of having more women in the science and engineering field, especially since there is a small percentage represented.
