Community Partners Aviation Academy sponsored by Made possible by support from the following Community Foundation of Broward Funds: Charles and Ruth Taylor Fund, Francis J. Crowley Fund, Jan Moran Unrestricted Fund and Mary N. Porter Community Impact Fund. School is Cool 2.0 50 students from Deerfield Beach Middle School participated in an innovative program at the Museum: Science in Action, supported by the School Board of Broward County. Students learned the program and exhibit design process by studying the Museum’s new Science Park and the physical science concepts in its exhibits. As part of this program, students created a Student Activity Guide for the park. Science in Action Students in this aviation focused program were exposed to new technologies and research in the field as well as special behind-the -scenes access at places including JetBlue Airlines Fort Lauderdale/ Hollywood International Airport, Sikorsky Development Flight Center, and Civil Air Patrol. Opening event with Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca, Erik Salna of FIU's International Hurricane Research Center and Kim Cavendish, Museum President Hurricane Andrew Exhibit Storm Center Exhibit sponsored by Florida Power & Light Ribbon cutting for the Power On! exhibit which is part of a $675,000 gift from Florida Power & Light Company and its charitable foundation. FPL is now the sponsor of the Storm Center and the lighting system in the new Science Park. Educators from Broward magnet schools had a great time in an exhibit development training seminar led by Museum staff. Sprouting STEM Sixth grade students at Crystal Lakes and Renaissance Middle Schools were immersed in real-life STEM experiences.
